Quotations from Chairman House
Sometimes, a simple question on the forum will provoke a particularly long & detailed response from me. It's probably a good idea for me to remember where to find these answers, rather than constantly repeating them!
- Citys vs Wards vs Parishes vs Post Town for "Road Names"
- Why u-turns at dead ends are a bad idea
- How to make roundabout bypass lanes work
- Time-based toll restrictions. I invented a method to implement time-based tolls. There's an old Wiki page. I think it's been transferred to the Global Wazzopaedia, so it's beyond my control now. This is the forum topic where it was discussed.
- Limitations of the current mapping of the London CCZ
- Why do we map railways?
Some of my proposals to improve Waze:
- Force editors to visit the forum 9 thanks. No response from HQ.
- Reach Out Automatically to New Editors 18 thanks. No response from HQ.
- New UR type – Editor Comment 15 thanks. No response from HQ. We implemented it anyway, using the URO+ script to provide icons for new comment types. Now being used in many countries. Eventually, Map Comments were added to native WME. Surprisingly, they did a pretty good job of it. :)
- Monthly UR report from Waze 9 thanks. No response from HQ. The need for this is now greatly reduced thanks to the WME UR-MP Tracking script.
- Roadworks UK sub-forum No thanks - but we implemented it successfully. I believe at least one other country has adopted the idea.
- Limit scoring rates for new editors NEW - we'll see how it goes. ;)
