Philippines MapRaid History

The Philippines was involved with the initial testing of the Waze MapRaid effort, although at first we called it Map Sweep. The community first heard about the concept during the official Philippines Waze Meetup conducted June 2014. The first Philippine MapRaid was held in September 2014, with the raiders arranged into three teams, tackling problems in Metro Manila. Subsequent raids were then held in various provinces/cities throughout the country. The community has since been using MapRaids to improve community involvement, to discover new editing talent, and to train new editors by putting high-level editors in charge of running the teams and mentoring lower-level team members. Many editors have achieved level upgrade because of their performance in the MapRaids.
