The area size covered by a building is primarily used to determine whether to use a Point or Area type of Place. Area Places should have a <color red> minimum area size </color red> of 500 m² (that is 10m x 50m) to be visible on the map in the app. Parking Lots and Gas Stations receive special handling and are to this moment always drawn as Areas.
