V prímorských oblastiach sú známe veľké lode na prepravu áut (a tiež ľudí) z nejakého prístavu do iného, ktoré sa nazývajú Trajekty. Na Slovensku sú známe skôr ako riečne prievozy alebo kompy. Obyčajne majú svoj vlastný plavebný poriadok a obvykle sú súčasťou dopravného systému.
V niektorých krajinách sú tieto nevyhnutnou súčasťou cestného systému. Na niektorých územiach je potrebné ich mať zaznamenané na mape, pretože sú občas najlepším spôsobom a v niektorých prípadoch jediným možným spôsobom, ako sa dostať do cieľa.
Ale nie všetky prievozy musia byť mapované. Nasledujúce podmienky môžu byť rozhodujúce, keď sa rozhodujete pridať prievoz do mapy.
Kedy pridať a kedy nie
Prievozy, ktoré spĺňajú niektorú z týchto podmienok, by vo všeobecnosti nemali byť mapované:
- Osobné prievozy bez prepravy áut
- Prievozy potrebujúce prekládku (prestupovanie)
- Súkromné prievozy na neverejné používanie
- Prievozy s plavbou dlhšou ako 2 hodiny
Ak trajekt, prievoz alebo kompa nespĺňa žiadnu z týchto podmienok môže byť pridaný do mapy.
Ak máte pochybnosti o tom, či prievoz má byť zamapovaný, alebo nie, napíšte svoj dopyt na editorské diskusné fórum [1].
Ako pridať
Celá dĺžka plavebnej dráhy prievozu, ako aj obidva prístavné body, musia byť vo vašej editovacej oblasti. Možno bude potrebné urobiť cestu prievozom so zapnutým Waze, aby tu bola vytvorená vaša oblasť.
- Zapnite vrstvu GPS body, aby ste videl obvyklú trasu plavby prievozu. Ak tu nie sú žiadne body, môže to byť priama línia medzi dvomi prístavmi.
- Zakreslite segment s tvarom podľa GPS bodov z jedného prístavu do druhého. Vo vlastnostiach ako Meno napíšte názov linky (trajektu, prievozu, kompy). Toto je často kombinácia prístavných miest.
Typ cesty môže byť rovnaký, ako typ cesty na niektorej strane trajektu. Nepoužívaj tu typ Trajekt, Diaľnica, Parkovisko, alebo Súkromná cesta. Ak je prievoz súčasťou dialničného systému, potom tu môže byť typ Diaľnica alebo Cesta I. triedy.
Presvečte sa, že ste na segmente nastavil časové obmedzenia, obsahujúce prvú plavbu (otvárací čas) a poslednú plavbu (záverečný čas).
- Draw segments on both loading ramps using the same road type as the ferry. These should have the correct city name entered on each side and "Ferry Loading Ramp" in road name field for both. (Editor Note: This gives some separation from the ferry and the ferry's slow waiting lines, enabling better routing.)
- Draw a one-way segment connecting the loading ramp segment to the main road on both sides using the same road type as the ferry. Label it with the correct city name on each side and No Name in name field. If ferry has multiple exit routes and clear signs then you can label the exit road with the standard "to: X" and "to: Y". Example "to: Seattle" and "to: I-90 / I-5".
- Draw another one-way segment connecting the main roads to the loading ramp segment on both sides using the same road type as the ferry. Mark is as a toll road if it has a fee in the direction of this segment. It should be labeled with correct city name on each side and "to Bainbridge Island - Seattle Ferry". (Editor Note: some ferries charge riders going one direction and not the other. You commonly see this when ferries are going to an Island where the ferry is the only access, then the ferry going to the island is toll road and ferry going to main land is not tolled. Splitting exit and entrance ramps enable this flexibility).

Future ferry support
As of Feb 2014, there is no set schedule when Waze will add further support for ferry routes, but it is in the list of future features. See the talk page for more information.
