Restricted crossing U turn (RCUT) intersection

The median crossing segments in a restricted crossing U turn (aka "J-turn" or "Superstreet") intersection should be set to the  Ramp  type.

RCUT Turn Instructions

Vehicles utilizing an RCUT / J-Turn will have two turn actions: one when entering the RCUT segment, and another when exiting the segment.

Entering RCUT Segment

Typically a "Keep Left" prompt should be used at the entrance to the RCUT segment. Normally this is the Waze default, if typical geometry is used.

Exiting RCUT Segment
U-Turn Voice Prompt
  • U-Turn. The turn at the final node of a median crossing segment of an RCUT should be specified as a "U-Turn" Voice prompt when the turning motion results in a U-turn for the driver.
Continue Voice Prompt
  • Continue. The turn at the final node of a median crossing segment of an RCUT should be specified as a "Continue" Voice prompt when the motion is not a U-turn, and the median crossing segment stopping point is directly (or almost directly) facing the intended outbound segment.
Turn Voice Prompt
  • Left Turn. The turn at the final node of a median crossing segment of an RCUT should be set to "Left Turn" Voice prompt when the motion is not a U-turn, and the median crossing segment stopping point is not directly facing the intended outbound segment (a turning motion is still required).
