Lane Guidance
This Lane Guidance section is specific to California only. The general Lane Guidance for USA can be found here: https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/USA/Lanes
Editors should consider using the Lane Tools script to assist in mapping lanes correctly.
In California, Lanes should be mapped for major intersections where it is different from what is expected. In other words, do not map if you can turn right from the right lane only and/or you can turn left from the left lane only.
Intersections where you should map Lanes:
Where there are multiple turn lanes
In a # or H junction where there is a U-Turn. The addition of lanes combined with lane heuristics enables Waze to announce a U-Turn, rather than a Turn Left, Turn Left.
What to watch out for:
Look forward/backward the distance for Lane Guidance announcement (about ½ mile for MH and ¼ mile for mH and lower) if the intersection loses lanes. The reason is that this could cause a driver to get into the wrong lane too early. Example, Mission entrance to I-680.
Place a MC over these areas.
