In Thailand, many roads have an uncrossable median, requiring drivers trying to get to a location on the other side of the road to drive past their location and make a U-turn at an intersection or designated [[Thailand#U-Turns|U-Turn connector]].  In order to assure proper routing in Waze, these roads must be divided. 
When it is illegal to cross a road, indicated by a ''widened'' yellow section or an uncrossable barrier in the middle, and has roads connecting to it, it must be divided.
This prevents a lot of red/green arrow twiddling.

If the road has already been drawn in as a single two way segment, care should be taken when dividing to preserve any existing traffic history assigned to those segments.  Here is a tutorial on how to divide a road and preserve existing traffic history and street numbers.  (Tutorial link to be added soon)

Dividing roads

When it is illegal to cross a road, indicated by a widened yellow section or an uncrossable barrier in the middle, and has roads connecting to it, it must be divided. This prevents a lot of red/green arrow twiddling.
