Sinds de overname door Google maakt Waze voor het plannen van een route gebruik van de zoekmachine van Google. Bij het plaatsen van een zoekopdracht wordt dus in de Google database gezocht. Indien er een match is, krijgt Waze de coördinaten terug gezonden. Waze zoekt op basis van deze coördinaten het dichtstbijzijnde segment en berekent vervolgens de route naar dit betreffende segment.
Since the takeover by Google, Waze is using the search function of Google. When looking up for an address, the Google database will be searched for the right coordinates.
If there is a match, Google will return these coordinates to the Waze routing server and will plan the fastest route to the nearest segment.
