How to name suburbs and townlands
There are very few name clashes in Ireland for towns of over 800 inhabitants. Use the common name without a county appendage, otherwise the map looks very cluttered. Sometimes it is necessary to append a county name (in brackets) e.g. to distinguish between Newport in Mayo and Newport in Tipperary. Only add the county if absolutely necessary. In Dublin city the name Dublin is not useful so please use the suburb names as they appear in the 1:15000 Ordnance Survey maps (available in petrol stations and many shops). Don't append "Dublin", "(Dublin)" or any other qualifier as this makes the map very unwieldy.
