<!-- Hi Wong Siew Meng, I read this as the core message, but I'm not sure. Please feel free to change, also for better wording -->

When routing over an unnamed segment, Waze will use the name of the next named segment on the a route. For example, if the unnamed segment is at a turn in your route, Waze will use the name of the next named segment in the turn instruction.

As from (Januari 2015?), this does NOT work if:
# A single unnamed segment is more than 400 meters long.
# There are four or more unnamed segments on the route.

Im these cases, you will only get the turn instruction. There will be no name written in the  display or spoken by the navigation voice.
Unnamed segments typically inherit the name of the next named segment along a route when used in navigation instructions.

There have been some recent changes to the way unnamed ''AKA no-name'' segments are handled. Read on for details.
Freeways and Ramps are an exception. They can have as many unnamed segments as you like, and be as long as you like. Waze will always generate the next instruction with the name of the next named segment.

Tip for naming exit ramp names:
If the exit off a freeway serves multiple exits further down the road, you can leave the name out of the first exit ramp. Only name the parts of the ramps that go to a specific destination. The Waze client will give all the exit instructions to guide the driver to the correct exit. Of course, this can only be done if the signage for the first ramp is the same as that on the subsequent named ramp.

The [[Road_names/USA#Exit_ramps_and_entrance_ramps_.28on-ramps.29|USA wiki section for exit ramp names]] currently mentions in passing that segments with no name will use the next named segment in the route when they are announced in navigation.
(To me, it remains unclear what happens if an unnamed ramp is longer than 400 meters or have more than three segments, and the next segment is not a freeway or ramp, e.g., when going to a major highway).

The Waze client will give all the proper exit and keep left or right instructions to guide the driver to the correct exit, even if the first one is not named. That said, this should only be done if the signage for the first ramp is the same as that on the subsequent, named ramp.}}

Any segment which has the "No-Name" box checked can inherit the name of the next named segment. If this segment is at a turn in your route where there would be a turn instruction, the name of the next named segment on your route will be used.
If there is no named segment on your route after this turn, you will only get the turn instruction, but no segment name. (Common with destinations inside complex parking lots)

{{Mbox|text=The [[#Current basic understanding|status-quo above]] still applies, and the following new changes do not affect {{Freeway|Freeways}} or {{ramp|Ramps}}.}}

For all other road types there are now two criteria which will prevent a segment from inheriting the next name of a segment along your route. If either of these criteria is met, you will just get the turn instruction without a street name displayed or spoken over TTS.
* A single No-Name segment is over 400 meters long.
* There are four or more consecutive no-name segments on the route.
'''''Remember''' these new changes DO NOT apply to Freeways or ramps, a freeway or ramp interchange can have as many consecutive no-name segments as you'd like, and be as long as you'd like, and they will still all inherit the next name on your route.''

When routing over an unnamed segment, Waze will use the name of the next named segment on the a route. For example, if the unnamed segment is at a turn in your route, Waze will use the name of the next named segment in the turn instruction.

As from (Januari 2015?), this does NOT work if:

  1. A single unnamed segment is more than 400 meters long.
  2. There are four or more unnamed segments on the route.

Im these cases, you will only get the turn instruction. There will be no name written in the display or spoken by the navigation voice.

Freeways and Ramps are an exception. They can have as many unnamed segments as you like, and be as long as you like. Waze will always generate the next instruction with the name of the next named segment.

Tip for naming exit ramp names: If the exit off a freeway serves multiple exits further down the road, you can leave the name out of the first exit ramp. Only name the parts of the ramps that go to a specific destination. The Waze client will give all the exit instructions to guide the driver to the correct exit. Of course, this can only be done if the signage for the first ramp is the same as that on the subsequent named ramp.

(To me, it remains unclear what happens if an unnamed ramp is longer than 400 meters or have more than three segments, and the next segment is not a freeway or ramp, e.g., when going to a major highway).
